The Southern Georgia AAA develops, provides and coordinates programs and services for older individuals, at-risk adults and persons with disabilities in an 18-county region including Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Pierce, Tift, Turner and Ware Counties.


The AAA is located in Waycross, Georgia, and is a division of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission (SGRC).

Calling All Aging Advocates!

AAA Promotes Aging and Disability Resource Connection Programs and Services

Vickie Wainright, RN, Options Counseling Specialist with the AAA, is promoting the ADRC - Aging and Disability Resource Connection - by dropping off candy jars at nursing homes throughout the region.

According to Vickie, there are times when alternatives to nursing home placement are viable solutions. "We want to get the word out so that both individuals and professionals in this area will be aware that options are available."

Free Tax Preparation through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

If your 2011 household income was less than $50,000, IRS-certified tax
preparers will help you get the refund you deserve. You could qualify for the
Earned Income Tax Credit, which could mean a refund of up to $5,751!

VITA volunteers will provide this service at Offerman City Hall on Tuesdays between January 24 and April 17, from 9am until 2pm. Call (912) 647-1944 for an appointment.
