The Transportation Investment Act (TIA) or TSPLOST is a regional sales tax for transportation purposes. The law allows a region to implement a one percent regional sales tax over a ten year period to fund transportation improvements. The SGRC is responsible for administering the process leading up to the referendum vote. The SGRC is a neutral party and only provides facts and information to local governments and the public regarding this process.
In accordance with Georgia Code 48-8-251, a Citizens Review Panel (CRP) must be created for special districts where TSPLOST/ TIA was approved by voters. The Citizens Review Panel (CRP) consists of five citizens that reside within the Southern Georgia Region. Three of the members are appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and two members are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. The CRP is responsible for reviewing the administration of the projects and programs on the investment list. The CRP members list is below.
