Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Southern Georgia Regional Commission is accepting applications for a qualified candidate for the position of Payroll & Benefits Specialist, responsible for a staff of approximately 70. Applicants must have at least six years of experience administering payroll and benefits. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist’s duties include processing a timely and accurate bi-monthly payroll process, as well as holding the primary responsibility for communicating and administering benefit programs with an exceptionally high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Driver’s license, MVR, background check, and drug test required. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred qualifications: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and an Associates or better in Human Resource Administration or related field. Salary depends on experience and qualifications. Payroll & Benefits Specialist Job Description





The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Analyst.

This position involves interaction with local governments throughout an 18 county region. Position responsibilities include all aspects of Geographic Information Systems, from sales to solution implementation, data and map production, solution innovation and creation, delivery and training. The qualified applicant will also assist the GIS Program Director in a variety of GIS initiatives including projects in desktop and online environments that will cover a wide array of practical GIS uses. The successful candidate will possess experience and knowledge in many of the following areas:

GIS
Experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop software
Experience with creation and manipulation of spatial datasets
Experience with spatial analysis and geoprocessing methods and tools
Ability to utilize ModelBuilder and Python scripting to automate repetitive processes        
Experience utilizing the ArcGIS Online environment in solutions    
Experience in geodatabase design and management
Experience in the use of ESRI’s ArcGIS for Server Software
Experience analyzing user requirements for GIS solutions.
Experience with workflows and modeling of business processes
Ability to create clear technical documentation of solutions where needed.        
Experience in planning and coordinating the implementation of new solutions.  



The successful candidate will have a minimum of 1 years practical experience with GIS systems, be able to work flexible hours if needed, possess professional interpersonal skills, an ability to follow written and oral instructions, work well without close supervision and in a team environment, and have good oral communication skills, as you will be interacting directly with local government officials.

The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Technician. This position involves interaction with local governments throughout an 18 county region. Position responsibilities include cartography, data creation and maintenance, GIS project planning, and spatial analysis. The GIS technician will also assist the GIS Program Director and VALOR Project Manager in a variety of GIS initiatives. These will include projects in desktop and online environments that will cover a wide array of practical GIS uses. 

The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of many of the following: Windows XP/7/8, Microsoft Office software, ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop software, Creation and editing of spatial datasets, Spatial analysis and geoprocessing, ModelBuilder or Python, and ArcGIS Online. The successful candidate will be able to work flexible and extended hours if needed, possess professional interpersonal skills, an ability to follow written and oral instructions, and have good oral communication skills.

This is a short term, hourly- paid position based in the Valdosta SGRC office. This position is temporary for a minimum period of 6 months that may be extended to 12 months. 20-30 hours per week availability required.
