Program Assistant – Workforce Development Division
The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is seeking to fill the position of Program Assistant in the Workforce Development Division. Candidates must possess at a minimum a high school diploma (or GED), two years of post-high school education and two years of work experience. Additional work experience may substitute for post-high school education. Responsibilities include meeting planning, invoice review, data entry, file management and other administrative duties. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, excellent oral and written skills, and strong presentation and interpersonal skills are required. Beginning salary range of $25,500 to $27,100 per year DOE. Position is located in Waycross. Valid driver’s license, motor vehicle report, and pre-employment drug test required. Hours M-F, 8:30-5. The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is accepting applications for the position of Grants Specialist. Responsible for administrative and technical duties associated with grant writing, implementation, and administration. Provide specialized support and management of grant funds in an 18-county region. Plan, coordinate, and prepare state and federal grant and loan applications for regional local governments. Administration of Community Development Block Grants/Loans, OneGeorgia Grants/Loans, Economic Development Administration grants, Housing grants, and other state and federal grants; maintaining general ledgers, transaction records, other grant files; completing and submitting required periodic reports; processing and submitting pay requests; monitoring contracts, payrolls, contractors, and project sites to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g. Davis-Bacon, Section 3, E-verify); advertising and conducting required public hearings; coordinating advertising for requests for proposals and advertisements for bidders; and additional assigned duties. Qualifications: Bachelpr’s Degree in business, public administration, marketing, finance, management, or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving technical writing, grant development and administration, and experience in the public sector; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment that requires a flexible approach to workload demands. Skills should include: project planning and implementation, operating a computer and standard office equipment, public and interpersonal relations, and verbal and written communication. Southern Georgia Regional Commission is accepting applications for the position of Program Coordinator in the aging department. Position will plan and coordinate programs and services for older adults and persons with disabilities. Duties include development of the Area Agency on Aging’s (AAA’s) annual plan, making public presentations, assisting with the AAA’s Request for Proposal process, oversight of various aging programs, provision of technical assistance to contractors, coordination and facilitation of meetings, oversight of the AAA’s marketing and outreach efforts, oversight of volunteers and interns, completion of state required reports, and creation and dissemination of a variety of documents including press releases and corrective actions plans. Excellent grammar, spelling, and composition skills are essential. Public speaking skills required. Knowledge of aging services and programs helpful. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs. Must have two years work experience and possess a four-year college degree in healthcare management, gerontology, public administration, or a related field.
